About the Designer

Ruth Liddle grew up in a family that operated a craft business and was exposed to and loved art from a young age. Following a degree from the National College of Art & Design, she established a business offering Irish sculptures to garden lovers and professionals. In 2015, Ruth opened The Kildare Gallery with Ken Folan, who is known for his curation of numerous outdoor exhibitions.

Ruth’s first sculpture garden, designed by Ingrid Swan, won a gold medal at Bord Bia Bloom 2014 and this year marks her seventh sculpture garden at the festival.

Garden Overview

In its seventh year at Bord Bia Bloom, Sculpture in the Park removes art from the confines of gallery walls and celebrates Irish art, design and craftmanship in the garden.

This large feature garden encourages and welcomes visitors to explore its crisscross pathways where they can interact with over 60 pieces of sculpture. The dominant colour in this year’s planting scheme is orange, the colour of innovation and joy. It creates the perfect canvas to enhance the many sculptures, allowing them to come to life.

The garden is sponsored by Applegreen and curated by Ruth Liddle and Ken Folan who believe that a well-chosen piece of garden sculpture brings focus and structure to an outdoor space. Through Sculpture in the Park they demonstrate that the beauty of a garden can often derive from what you place in it as much as what you grow in it.
