About the garden - Medium garden
‘Bee Happy’ Wildlife Garden is the winning garden from RTÉ’s ‘Super Garden’ series, created for Jaison, Anju and their little boy Steve. It is inspired by the stunning honeycomb structure and emphasises the importance of bees and the necessity for garden owners to consider pollinators when building outdoor spaces.
The design supports biodiversity and sustainability, encouraging wildlife through natural materials, an abundance of flowering plants, a pollinator-friendly wildflower lawn, bug hotels, and hiding places for habitat building. It is an extension to the home for exploring, relaxing, and taking well-deserved me time.
A polycarbonate-covered pergola, trickling water feature, seating areas, floral scents, fruiting plants to harvest, paint choices that make everything pop, and a colourful mural that nods to the family’s Indian heritage, provide the perfect environment to unwind. The garden will grow with little explorers as a space where the family play, learn about biodiversity, and “Bee Happy”.

About the Sponsor
‘Super Garden’, RTÉ One’s popular garden design challenge, returned for a 16th season this year. Five designers were given three weeks and a budget of €15,000 to design and create similar-sized gardens, competing to bring a show garden to Bloom.
What is planned for this garden after Bloom?
Debbie is working with The Curragh Montessori and Newbridge Family Resource Centre in County Kildare to rehome elements of the garden. The Curragh Montessori will receive the items that are aimed towards young children; the remainder of the garden will move to the Newbridge Family Resource Centre, which is currently building a community garden.
