About the garden - Small garden
This is a calm garden retreat where soft planting, natural materials, and still water provide space to pause, slow down, and reconnect with nature. Created by first time Bloom Show Garden designers, Kakha Gigauri and Michael O’Connor, it reflects the growing movement to design restorative landscapes that support wellbeing.
A simple timber pergola provides a sheltered place to pause, while a reflective water bowl offers a quiet focal point. Natural materials such as timber, stone, and gravel are used in a restrained palette to create a calm atmosphere.
The design embraces naturalist planting, using ferns, grasses, and woodland perennials to create soft texture, movement and seasonal change while supporting biodiversity. Seasonal highlights are provided by Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’ and Tiarella cordifolia, offering subtle white flowering that brings light into the planting. A multi-stem Betula utilis var. jacquemontii adds structure and vertical presence.
About the Designers
Kakha Gigauri and Michael O’Connor
Kakha Gigauri and Michael O’Connor are the designers behind Leaf 2 Leaf Landscapes, delivering landscaping and garden services across Dublin and surrounding counties with their team. This garden marks both Kakhi’s and Michael’s debut as Show Garden designers at Bord Bia Bloom.
Their work is shaped by practical garden experience, focusing on creating balanced outdoor spaces where planting, materials, and layout work together naturally. Through this project they aim to translate everyday garden building knowledge into a thoughtful Show Garden that reflects calm, wellbeing, and the value of carefully designed outdoor environments.
