About the Garden - Super Garden
This garden, created by Super Garden 2023 winner, Colm Carty, is designed to meet the demands of a young family. It provides a colourful and contemporary child-focused space, which is suitable for entertaining visitors of all ages.
A pergola protects the outdoor dining and lounge area from the elements and allows for use throughout the seasons, while a secluded children’s play area gives children their independence in a safe space.
The boundary planting provides privacy with pleached hornbeam and Betula utilis Jacquemontii (Himalayan Birch) multi-stem trees planted in eye-catching, lime-hued raised beds for additional height. The vibrant perennial planting scheme, which includes Agapanthus africanus ‘Albus’ (African Lily), Allium lusitanicum ‘Summer Beauty’, and a range of heucheras, miscanthus and hostas, is mixed with Buxus balls for structure and year-round interest.

Colm Carty is a quantity surveyor, keen gardener, and winner of this year’s Super Garden competition on RTÉ.
Passionate about gardening from a young age, he spends much of his spare time outdoors and loves to help others transform their gardens into functional and liveable outdoor spaces that the whole family can enjoy. A father of two young boys, he is inspired by travel and the holistic benefits of nature.
